Hip-Hop & Her Family WNYU Guest Set

Last Friday I had the great pleasure of being on 89.1 FM WNYU with DJ Petra and Audrey Hailes! Had a great time with the ladies of HH&HF. Got a chance to meet a very talented brother named K. Gaines with a dope album out now (K. Gaines formerly of the Sleepwalkers). I DJed for an hour in the beginning of the show and followed that up with an interview. Played a bunch of new original material, a couple classics, and some funk and soul. If you weren’t able to catch the show then you can listen to it here on HH&HF’s soundcloud. Once again, thank you very much to DJ Petra and Audrey Hailes for having me. You guys are dope!

Vice’s Midlife Crisis Album Out Now

Yoyo! Just a friendly reminder that the album “Vice’s Midlife Crisis” #VMLC is OUT NOW. I had the pleasure of producing 5 songs and mixing and mastering most of the project. Oddatteee and Dama Nillz produced bangers on this joint, too! This record got lyrics! A perspective! A message! It’s underground AND commercial! It’s Hip Hop the way a lot of people like it! And it’s New York City! Pay what you want on Bandcamp.

End of the Weak MC Challenge Beat Juggling Name That Tune Contest

I joined the EODub team as an MC Challenge DJ (MCs are competing to win a trip to the World Championship in Uganda), and I wanna help you and your crew come out to the next one on Sunday, June 15 (Pyramid Club, 7 pm – 12 am, 21+, $10). Here’s what we’re gonna do. You can enter my Name That Tune contest to win a spot the guest list plus 4, and we’ll even throw in an EODub T-shirt!

How to play: Watch me throw three random beats at 6 MC Challenge contestants in this video from last Sunday. Fill in as many song titles and artists and/or song sources as possible in the form below. The entry with the most correct answers wins. If there’s a tie, the winner will be selected randomly from those entries. Contest closes on Friday, June 13.

EODub (End Of the Weak) was founded in 2000 as one of the few weekly platforms in NYC where hip-hop performers were able to hone their talent. What started as a small Open Mic in the back of a restaurant has grown into NYC’s longest-running weekly hip-hop show and an International Hip-Hop movement.

End of the Weak MC Challenge & Open Mic Sunday

Sunday I’m DJing one of the most legendary MC battles in New York City, End of the Weak (May 18 @ Pyramid Club (7 pm – 12 am). One of the craziest challenges you’ll see at the battle is “Beat Juggling” — a no holds barred musical montage of anything I choose (and mess with) from classical music to TV show themes, new hip hop beats to classic rock that the contestants rhyme over. Come see which MC rises to the top! This will culminate in the world championship being held in Uganda, Africa, this November! DJing for MCs has always been one of my favorite gigs! Spectators, contestants, and open mic performers are welcome!

*While the Open Mic goes on every week, the MC Challenge is only once a month, so please try to make it out!
